Intro Blog

Hi, my name is Lily O'Neil. I am 15 (almost 16) years old. I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I go to Fort Lauderdale High. I play 3 sports: soccer, volleyball, and softball. I love all 3 of these sports so much, I could not pick a favorite if you asked me to. I play all these sports on the school teams. Outside of the school teams, I also play travel soccer. My favorite thing to do besides play sports is listen to music. I love listening to all different genres and finding new favorite artists and songs.  I love music because it's one of the things in your life that you can be in control of. You can choose music based on how you feel and what you want to feel after listening. Music is very powerful to me and has an enormous impact on me. Another type of art form I love exploring and creating is filmmaking. The main reason I chose this course was to further pursue my interest in filmmaking. So far, I have learned so much and enjoyed it along the way. My past 2 projects have not been the best, but there has been progress. I have so many ideas and methods I can use to make my Final Task much better and to show how much I progressed since the beginning of the year. I am very excited to start the process, I know it will be fun.

  My group for the music video is me, Kaya, Ben, and Addison. I have been friends with them for a very long time and I think they are great people to do this project with. We all usually have similar ideas. Our personalities go well together and do not clash. I chose them for this project because I know I can count on them to do their share of the work. They are very creative and can help with the brainstorming aspect of the project. Ben actually makes music so he could help us determine what we should put in the video.   Part 1-  The main takeaway of the video is what goes into making a good film.  Editing and filming are required for the audience to understand the story.  The video talks about how the film was made and how it was meant to show what is happening.  Editing is important in movies in general.  The pictures put in allow for a clean effect for shots.  The shots and reverses allow us to feel the film.  Long shots allow the audience to better see the film.  The audience was given more time to study the pictures.  The images are each their own story. - How can we better represent situations and emotions in our film?  This film goes back in time in a straightforward manner for the audience to understand everything.  Audio can also be used to enhance the video.    Conventions in Thriller films Genre Research: Thriller Close-up- may be used when your attention is intentionally directed to the character’s face and at times what is behind them. Extreme close-up- used as a powerful way to convey the emotion that the subject is feeling. They are used in thrillers to allow the audience to get a clear understanding of the emotions the character is going through. Used mostly to convey fear, pain, and sadness in thrillers. Low angle- to show the power struggles of characters throughout intense scenes. High Angle- to show the power struggles of characters throughout intense scenes. Costumes are more often than not very simple and plain. Muted colors are usually used to not take away from what is actually happening in the movie.
