Creative Critical Reflection

The Final Product

This was me and my group's first time working on a important project together. It was a lot of fun. I definitely think this brought us all closer together. Closer than we already were. Looking back on it, there's a lot of things we could improve on. The whole process was very rushed due to COVID-19 complications in the beginning. I think that if we had more filming and brainstorming time, it would be much better. But, with everything we had to deal with, I do think that it turned out pretty good.  Another thing we could've improved on was creating a better storyline than just a fun winter day out with close friends. Other than these improvements, I am proud of our production and think we are well on our way to creating bigger and better things. I can't wait to create more productions in AICE Media Studies.

Creating the masterpiece

Today, I edited the music video. I needed to figure out whether I should use iMovie like the commercial project, or a different editing software. I looked for good, free platforms. I found some good ones. In the end, I ended up just using iMovie because that is what I am most familiar with. iMovie is good because it doesn't leave a watermark or make you pay. First, I needed all the clips so I could piece them together. Since they were taken on Kaya's phone, I asked her to send them to me. She sent them and I saved them to my computer. I decided which clips were going to be used because there was a lot of them. I put them into iMovie. I realized that the video was way too long so I shortened the clips. I also decided to speed some of them up. Then I watched it through to make sure the clips were in order and it looked good. Some of the clips were still out of order. I moved them and continued. It was time for transitions. I added the transition where I zoomed into Ben's hea

After I finished filming the scenes at the ice rink, I decided that our group should go to the mall. It was already getting late and Ben had to go home at 4 o'clock so this had to happen quickly. The Galleria mall was far from where the rink was so I suggested that my group and I ride together in the same car. This would help everything move along faster so we could all get there at the same time instead of meeting there. Since none of us can drive yet, we needed a parent or sibling to drive. I told my group members to all text their parents to see who could take us. I texted my mom and she couldn't drive at the moment. Addison texted her dad and he agreed to drive. I was very thankful because it was a far drive. I soon got to the Galleria mall with my group and proceeded to go into Macy's. Macy's is usually where the letter writing stations are. There was only 3 letter papers left which was perfect. I suggested that Ben film this scene so I could be in the scene. He ag

I began the first filming day by meeting my group members at Glacier Ice Arena. I paid $17 to get a skating pass. I couldn't skate intensely and be in the videos on the ice, but I was still excited to go on the ice with my group mates. I got my skates from the counter along with the group. As soon as I put my skates on I realized that we forgot to film our beginning scenes coming into the building and getting the skates. I decided that the scenes would just be filmed out of order since the skates were already on. My group and I went onto the ice to film. I started off slow because of my injury and I wanted to get the hang of the skating before I was filming. I did this because I did not want to fall with the camera in my hand. I began filming my group mates Kaya and Addison skating together. They skated past me and did this a couple times so there would be extra scenes just in case we needed them so the music video would be long enough. I then filmed a tracking shot from behind Kay

Delayed Start

Sunday, December 5th was the first filming day for our group. I thought the filming should have been done earlier but my group member, Ben, got the COVID 19 virus so it would have been very bad to be around him during those times. The filming was supposed to take place in November. After Ben's quarantine period supposedly ended, he got another test and was still positive, which delayed the filming another week. I wish we could have started earlier on this but it was an unprecedented circumstance for me and the group. The week before filming was supposed to start I hurt my hip playing soccer. This was not good because the filming was going to take place on ice. At first when I was injured, I was sure I was not going to be able to partake in the ice aspect of the video. A couple days later, I realized that I might be able to participate. When the day before filming came around, I made a decision. I decided that I would go out on the ice and be the camera woman and film my group mate
