On the Hunt

Image
I found a song that was very fitting for our film. The song was Season of the Witch by Lana Del Rey. It was a good song for the feel I was going for. It was dark and eerie. I really wanted to use this song. With being so busy, my partner or I did not get a chance to email the music company. I realized this too late. I could not get an answer back in time to be able to put the song in the film. I tried to think of other options. I looked up the copyright rules. I figured out that there was nothing I could do. I had to get permission or I could not use the song. I was upset but I could figure out something else. I realized that this song would not make or break our film, so it was okay. I started researching public domain music. Public domain music is music that has no copyright and is essentially free for anyone to use. I went on YouTube to start looking. I needed to find music that was similar to Season of the Witch by Lana Del Rey. I am still on the hunt for music I would like to use,

Almost Successful

Today was supposed to be the last filming day. I needed to film the rest of the scenes. These scenes are set at night. So Kaya and I needed to film at nighttime. It was a beautiful night. I picked up Cayden so he could film for us again. He lives fairly close to me so it was easy to pick him up. I got to his house and he got in my car. I drove back to my house where Kaya was. I had to create more fake blood. I went to Winn-Dixie and bought more corn syrup and  food dye. I came back to my house. I mixed the food dye and corn syrup like last time. Next, I was figuring out what scene to film first. While doing this, it started raining. Kaya, Cayden and I went inside. I was waiting for the rain to stop so filming could continue. The rain would not stop. So, instead of filming today, the three of us went to dinner together. We went to Quarterdeck and ate good food while talking about setting another filming date.

Cameraman to the Rescue

After making the fake blood, Kaya and I picked up our cameraman, Cayden McTighe. I am very happy he agreed to help us because we could not have done it ourselves. There were many scenes that both me and Kaya had to be in which is why we needed a cameraman. Kaya, Cayden, and I made our way over to Snyder Park. Soon after leaving, I realized we forgot a shovel. This is one of the biggest props and we wouldn't be able to film what we wanted without it. I told Kaya that we needed to go back to her house to get a shovel. We went back and got it. Then, we were ready to go to the park. It was still light outside, so I decided it would be best to film our end scenes first due to them being set during the day. We quickly arrived at Snyder Park. I needed to find the perfect place that would look the best in the film. Kaya drove around the park. I looked for a filming spot. After driving farther into the park, I found the perfect spot. Kaya pulled over and we all got out of the car. I grabbe

Getting Creative

Image
Today was the first filming day. The fake blood still did not arrive in the mail. Even though the blood did not come yet, I needed to take advantage of this free day to film. I usually never have full free days. It was also beautiful outside. So instead of changing the filming date, Kaya and I had to get creative and make fake blood ourselves. I searched up directions and wrote down the supplies I needed. Making it would be surprisingly easy because it consists of two ingredients, light corn syrup and food dye. I went to my local grocery store, Winn-Dixie and started looking for the supplies. I found the food dye quickly. I could not find the corn syrup anywhere. I finally asked an employee for help and they pointed me in the right direction. After some more looking, I found it. Then, I bought the supplies. I got back in the car and started mixing the corn syrup and food dye. I decided it would be easier to mix it directly in the bottle. I added the whole tube of food dye into the bot

Park Search

Image
Before filming, I realized that one of the locations needed to change. Birch State park is right on the beach which is very crowded right now. Living in South Florida, there are a lot of people traveling here for spring break. The beach is very crowded all the time. Since there is a lot of traffic and people walking around, I decided that I needed to change parks. I needed to find a similar setting. I looked for wooded/closed off locations. I found Joseph C. Carter Park which looked nice. I realized it wasn't wooded enough, so it would be hard to find a closed off area to film the scenes we needed. I kept searching for new parks. Then, I came across the Secret Woods Nature Center. This park was perfect for what we needed to film. I did more research on it. I found out that they are strict with filming inside the park because it is a private nature center. So, I had to find something else. I kept looking for something similar to the look of the secret Woods nature Center. I almost g

Amazon Adventures

Image
Today, I went on Amazon to try and find some props, makeup, and costumes for the movie. First, I started looking for fake blood. I typed fake blood in the search bar and clicked enter. The first results that came up were only big amounts. I saw gallons and more, but I only needed about a quart or so. I found the smaller amounts. I was looking at how fast it would deliver. I could only find blood that would take a long time to get to my house. This was a problem because I needed it quick. I texted Kaya to see if she found anything. She told me that she could also not find anything. I kept looking on Amazon and I eventually found some. It was 16 oz of fake blood with overnight shipping. I put 2 bottles in my cart. I told Kaya that I found some. Each bottle was $14.99. The total for both bottles was $32.08 with tax. I checked out and bought them.

Storyboard Blog

Image
For the first page of our storyboard, we have our main character set out on a late-night drive around the neighborhood. The scenery is shown to set the tone for the movie. Roads are empty in this neighborhood and its night time.  On page 2 we have our main character clearly distracted while driving then it cuts to the antagonist walking peacefully on the street until she gets struck by a car. The main character is obviously distraught at the thought of having accidentally killed someone. So she hides the body at her house until the morning. In the morning she recovers the body and places it in the trunk of her car. As the main character is driving the dead body to the new location some strange things happen in the backseat of the car. A worried friend tries to reach out to the main character but gets quickly shut down. The main character soon arrives at the destination and dumps the body and begins to bury it. After burying the dead body the main character returns to her car and begi
